Joe Carnahan Has No Fear
Joe Carnahan, [the writer/director known for Narc, Smokin’ Aces and The Grey] put together a short video to give a feel for what he’d do if given an opportunity to bring Daredevil to the big screen. The video combines clips from several movies, with art from Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli’s run on Daredevil as well as some sweet Curtis Mayfield music thrown in to add a bit of spice.
Man, I’d love to see what Carnahan could do with the right cast and budget. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like this will happen.
Thanks and a tip o’ Matt Murdock’s shades to CBR.com.
This sizzle reel was a clear indication why Carnaham was so RIGHT as director of DD.
I see on messageboards of fans clamoring that it is “good” that DD is going back to Marvel. Is it?
Would Disney allow Marvel to make something like this for DD? Now, with their involving cinematic universe, is there room for DareDevil to be part of it? Just put him in there for what, a small side story where we see him hook up with Widow? Fox should have kept the ball rolling, given a lessar budget so that it fit with the 70s motif literally, or, have Carnahan go back to his Narc roots of a smaller, tight and indy production.
You are right. I totally agree with your thoughts on Daredevil, Marvel and Carnaham.
If I were Fox I would still go through and probably tap Stephen Norrington to direct DD. Still today I will hold my stance that Blade is the precursor of all this “gritty and dark” superhero films.
